This first day cover is postmarked on April 6, 1987, the 125th anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh. The envelope features the portrait of General Albert Sidney Johnston, who was killed during the battle. The postmark reads Shiloh National Park, Shiloh, TN 38376. The three stamps on the envelope are 4 cent Shiloh Civil War Centennial commemorative stamp, 3 cent 150-year Anniversary of Tennessee Statehood commemorative stamp, and 15 cent The Land of the Free-The Home of the Brave first class stamp. Inside the envelope is a two page summary of the life of General Johnston written by National Park Service Ranger Dennis L. Turnbo
